Whales and the Health of the Oceans

Although I have lived far from the ocean my entire life, whales and other marine life fascinate me.

The water bottle precariously balancing in, or on, the mug speaks to the redundancy of waste in our culture’s use of plastics, as the single-use bottle holds water in a reusable container. The whale mug and water bottle are a visualization of my frustration and horror every time I see a news article that reports another whale or marine animal has washed ashore with its stomach full of plastic or mortally entangled in plastic detritus.
